TOKYO (Kyodo) — S.T. Corp. said Tuesday it will launch a radiation counter for home use from Oct. 20 mainly in the Kanto and Tohoku regions as well as on online shopping sites.

The Air Counter dosimeter can measure gamma radiation in the air when it is held a meter above the ground. The amount of radiation is displayed in microsieverts per hour, it said.

The 105-gram dosimeter will be priced at 15,750 yen and S.T., based in Tokyo, will target it at women with young children, it said.

It plans to initially ship 10,000 units and sell a total of 50,000 by the end of this year.
